Can an opening night encounter
ignite an unexpected love?

In the world of stage lights and theatre magic, Penelope Parrish (Pen) captivates audiences as Cleopatra and Juliet while managing her offstage love life with cool authority until a face in the audience threatens to overturn Pen's best-laid plans.

Kate sparks an instant connection with Pen, fueled by mutual attraction and a shared passion for the theatre. Through fiery, intense rehearsal rooms and witty, double-edged banter, Pen's story unfolds in her own voice, inviting readers into the unguarded intimacy of her life onstage and off.

Pen is forced to confront challenges of the past and present and redefine her art to try desperately to win the woman she loves before it’s too late.

HOW FULL OF BRIERS offers an exploration of three of the world's top theatres devoted to the work of Shakespeare: the Royal Shakespeare Company, the American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut, and the Stratford Festival of Canada.

It follows each theatre from its origins, through its artistic and organizational history, to the organizational structure as it existed in 1981. This proved to be a pivotal time in the life of each theatre, with one theatre about to dissolve, one trying not to explode, and one expanding beyond anything the original founders might have imagined.

In addition to a comparison of the three Stratfords, the lessons learned from them are used to design a model theatre, complete with charter, bylaws, organizational structure.

Updated, with a new Foreword and Afterword, HOW FULL OF BRIERS is a love letter to the world of the classical repertory theatre. Originally published in 1983 and out of print for many years, it is presented in this new edition.

"...there are certain groups of people who quite by chance will find themselves together with
a director on a play, and magic will work..."

Could you know someone so well that
he became a stranger?

Or had he always been a stranger that you convinced yourself you knew? Anna Peregrino, daughter of a US diplomat, wife of a Chilean journalist, and mother of two rambunctious boys, is oblivious to the undercurrents of life in Pinochet’s Chile. Until the day her husband is dragged away by soldiers moments after asking her for a divorce.

Anna is plunged into the terrors of a brutal regime, fighting to protect her children, her husband, and herself, while struggling to appear calm, cool, and in control. She turns to a lifelong friend for help. When he reveals himself to be her greatest enemy, is there anyone Anna can trust, except herself?
